Our relationship management and investment teams have extensive experience managing assets for captive and traditional insurance companies, corporate operating assets, public and private pension plans, defined contribution/401k plans, endowments, foundations and other institutional mandates. We collaborate with our clients to structure an investment solution designed to maximize returns within their specific risk tolerances and regulatory or collateral constraints (i.e. compliance with Letter of Credit or 114 Trust Agreements and state regulatory reporting requirements) as applicable.
Hugh founded the firm in December 1992 and is currently Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to forming Performa, Hugh was Vice President and Director of Offshore Marketing for The Matuschka Group, a large global asset management company with offices in Munich, Zurich and London. He began his career at IBM in 1983 where he was responsible for marketing the firm’s products to multinational insurance companies. Hugh holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Hobart College.
Sandi is Performa’s Head of Client Service with primary responsibility for the firm’s global client relationships. Prior to joining Performa, Sandi was Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Dwight Asset Management Company where she was responsible for over $7 billion in institutional client assets. Sandi’s portfolio management responsibilities included working with clients to understand their investment objectives, performing liability analysis and effectively implementing and communicating duration, liquidity and asset allocation decisions. Prior to joining Dwight, Sandi was a Corporate Accounting Manager at Fidelity Investments and Senior Auditor at Price Waterhouse LLC. Sandi graduated from the University of Vermont with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
John is Performa’s Head of US Business Development responsible for leading the firm’s new business development and marketing effort by cultivating relationships with captive insurance companies and their service providers. He received B.A. degrees in both Spanish and International Affairs from Lafayette College as well as a M.S. in Investment Management from Boston University’s School of Management. John came to Performa from Fletcher Allen Health Care’s treasury department. He has extensive investment management experience as a fixed income product manager including 10 years with Standish Mellon Asset Management in Boston followed by similar roles at Dwight Asset Management and Sentinel Investments.
Warren is a US Client Relationship Manager. His primary responsibilities include working directly with US clients as well as providing support to senior members of the global client service, marketing and business development teams. Warren maintains and develops relationships with clients and their service providers, manages the company CRM system and assists in the development of new business opportunities. Warren received a B.S. degree in Business Administration with a concentration in entrepreneurship and economics from the University of Vermont in 2012. Prior to joining Performa, Warren held various positions with BuysideFX, a foreign exchange trading software provider based in Burlington, VT.
Megan is a Client Service Associate with primary responsibility for providing client service and operational support to the investment, relationship and business development managers on behalf of Performa’s global clients. Megan obtained her Associates Degree in General Insurance and with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business. Megan holds the Accredited Asset Management Specialist designation, was awarded the Claritas® Investment Certificate (2014) and successfully completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC®). Prior to joining Performa, Megan held various investment positions with Bermuda Investment Advisory Services Ltd and Colonial Pension Services Ltd.
David is Performa’s Chief Investment Officer responsible for investment policy and is a member of the firm’s Executive Management Team. Performa clients benefit from his more than twenty years of investment management experience and wealth of fixed income knowledge. Prior to joining Performa, David served as Chief Investment Officer of Dwight Asset Management where he was responsible for over $75 billion in fixed income client assets. As Chair of Dwight’s Fixed Income Strategy Group, he led the decision making process for macro sector allocation and strategy duration. He also held previous positions with Manufacturers Hanover Trust in New York City in the Emerging Markets Group and traded emerging market and non-dollar securities at several other institutions. David graduated from Trinity College with a Bachelor’s degree and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation from the CFA® Institute.
Scott is a senior member of the Investment Policy Group and Head of Corporate Credit, leading Performa’s corporate bond portfolio management, trading and research. He has been involved in all aspects of the fixed income markets having spent considerable time early in his career as an investment grade and high yield analyst before moving on to focus on trading and managing Investment Grade portfolios. Before joining Performa, Scott held the position of Head of Investment Grade Credit at Dwight Asset Management and was a member of firm’s Fixed Income Strategy Team. He also held senior positions at Dwight Asset Management in portfolio management and as a credit analyst. Prior to that, Scott was a credit analyst at Gannett Welsh & Kotler and Loomis Sayles in Boston. Scott holds a M.B.A. in Business Management and B.A. degree in Political Science from Union College. Scott holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation from the CFA® Institute and is a member of the CFA Societies of Vermont and Boston.
Jason is a senior member of the Investment Policy Group and Head of Structured Product, leading Performa’s mortgage and asset-backed securities portfolio management, trading and research. Prior to joining Performa, Jason served as a fixed income Portfolio Manager for Dwight Asset Management, responsible for over $2 billion in Commercial Real Estate securities. His portfolio management role included the analysis and trading of commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) for a wide variety of institutional portfolios and funds. Before joining Dwight’s portfolio management unit, Jason began as a quantitative analyst and then moved to managing and trading the firm’s securities lending portfolio. He transitioned to the Structured Product team in 2006 in a role covering residential, commercial and consumer receivables backed securities. In 2008, Jason became Head of CMBS. Prior to moving to Dwight Asset Management in 2002, Jason held positions in credit mitigation, recruitment and sales. He graduated from Middlebury College with a B.A. in Psychology.
Scott is Performa’s Economic and Macro Strategist focused on the firm’s macro investment policy and is a senior member of the firm’s Investment Policy Group. Scott holds a MS in Economics from the University of Oregon. He previously worked at Dwight Asset Management from 2007 to 2010 as both a Quantitative Analyst and Associate Portfolio Manager running portfolio analytic systems, modeling tactical and strategic interest rate positioning trades as well as risk management monitoring. Prior to Dwight, he worked at Princeton University as a Data Analyst writing statistical programs and creating and managing databases for various university departmental research projects. Scott received his undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont as double major in Mathematics and Economics.
Peter is Performa’s Liquid Markets & Asset Allocation portfolio manager. He is a member of the firm’s Investment Policy Group as well as a member of the firm’s Asset Allocation Policy Group. Peter’s responsibilities include the day-to-day management of the firm’s money market fund and other client liquidity strategies. As Asset Allocation portfolio manager, he is also responsible for managing overall client exposure in accordance with their stated guidelines and positioning within the firm’s asset allocation policies, including trading activity oversight. Prior to joining Performa, Peter worked at Dwight Asset Management as a structured products portfolio manager with a particular focus on residential mortgage-backed and asset-backed securities. After Dwight, Peter held positions at The GFI Group as an inter-dealer broker covering MBS, ABS, and CLOs, and more recently at AOC Securities in institutional fixed income sales. Peter received his B.S. degree from the University of Vermont with a major in Finance & Management Information Systems.
Christopher is a Corporate Credit Analyst primarily responsible for monitoring current fixed income holdings and identifying new investment opportunities while monitoring economic, market and industry trends and fundamentals. He has 20 years of experience in the fixed income markets including significant experience as an investment grade and high yield analyst in a wide range of industries including financials, energy, industrials and materials. Before joining Performa, Christopher was a VP, Fixed Income Analyst at Sentinel Asset Management, the investment arm of National Life based in Montpelier, VT. Prior to that, Christopher held various analyst positions at KDP Investment Advisory Services, Opus Investment Management and Fleet National Bank, amongst others. Christopher holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, earned a M.B.A. from Boston College and a B.A. degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Eric is an Equity Research Analyst at Performa and is responsible for fundamental stock value driven research analysis within the firm’s equity strategies, including generating investment ideas. Prior to joining Performa, Eric was a Research Analyst at Lone Star Value Management in Greenwich, Connecticut. At Lone Star Value, he specialized in conducting deep value equity research, which primarily included analyzing and modelling small-cap activist and special situation investment opportunities. Eric also contributed to Lone Star Value’s marketing effort and analyst training program. He graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the Honors College of the College of Charleston. While at the College of Charleston, Eric helped launch the Student Investment Fund and served as the portfolio manager.
Gary is Performa’s Chief Operations Officer and a member of the Executive Management Team. Gary was previously the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer. Prior to Performa, Gary was a Senior Auditor at Deloitte & Touche Tohmatsu International, located in Bermuda, specializing in audits of investment companies, off-shore hedge funds and captive insurance management. He also worked in the Business Advisory & Assurance Services group at Deloitte & Touche LLP, specializing in audits of financial service companies. Gary graduated from Pepperdine University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
Kathy is Performa’s Chief Compliance Officer – US. Before joining Performa, Kathy was employed as a Compliance Officer at Loring, Wolcott & Coolidge Trust Company where she was responsible for regulatory and internal compliance oversight. Prior to that, Kathy worked for Old Mutual Asset Management Trust Company as their AML Compliance Officer, Client Service Manager and Treasurer. She has over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry in various areas such as compliance, client service and fund administration. Kathy graduated from Saint Anselm College in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and a minor in Human & Work Relations.
Adam is Performa’s Head of Portfolio Management Operations responsible for daily oversight of global trading operations and the ongoing strategic evaluation of operational based projects and controls. Prior to joining Performa, Adam was Vice President of Operations at Maple Capital Management where he was responsible for managing the new account onboarding process and operational workflow. Prior to joining Maple Capital, Adam was the Head of Operations at Dwight Asset Management Company. Adam’s primary responsibilities at Dwight included Fixed Income trade processing, new account setup, and portfolio accounting oversight. Adam graduated from Providence College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management/Finance, and is currently completing his Masters in Science in Accounting.
